RESOURCES FOR MEDITATION
I have been meditating since I was in high school, exploring a variety of traditions, especially zen, mindfulness, and yogic meditations. The practices and recordings listed below are meant to help with grief, anxiety, and memory loss. Below are musical recordings, recordings from meditation classes, and research findings.
MUSICAL RECORDINGS
Long Kirtan Kriya (tantric)
Listen...

This is a 30 minute version of the 12 minute meditation that has been shown to have benefit on Alzheimer's Disease prevention. It features the Mutarjo which is pictured here. The tantric refers to the play of opposites, which in this case include the individual voice and the group, the male voice and the female voice, and also the tensions of harmony and dissonance as the sung melody is heard against a changing backdrop of chords.

Autumn Shoreline
Listen...

This is an album dedicated to the memory of my mother which includes two instrumentals and three meditations from the Kundalini Yoga Tradition. The instrumentals are played on the Mutarjo. All the pieces are related to some aspect of the grieving process.

Blue and Green is a meditation on the beautiful theme by Bill Evans and Miles Davis played on the Mutarjo. It captures the anger contained in grief.

Kirtan Kriya is the 12 minute version that has been studied in the research literature. The directions for the meditation are included in the attached PDF.

Ether Tattva Wahe Guru Mantra is a chant associated with the element of ether. It is sung in a joyful spirit helping to bring acceptance that ultimately is part of grief when there is a realization that things are as they should be.

Prelude in C Minor was written by Agustin Barrios Mangore, a Paraguayan virtuosic guitarist/composer of the early twentieth century and adapted by me for the Mutarjo. It is a pure reflection of sadness.

Ardas Bhayee is a chant which means the prayer is answered even before it is released.
